I was looking for an easy way for mobile phones to send SMS through MyNetFone, an Australian Voip service Provider. Because there was no program that I could find suitable, I created a program on the android platform (while learning the language) and called it "SMS via MNF.

I recently got a Virgin Mobile Broadband Modem USB dongle. Researching the dongle looked promising, uncovering people getting it to work on Ubuntu. What was lacking however, was a good tutorial for people to follow to get it to work.

I kept having the problem of when I did an "apt-get update" or "aptitude update" (or even using update manager / synaptic to update the package lists), apt would keep on trying to download the packages for Translation-en_AU. And they would keep failing, not only increasing the time it took to run an update, but also confusing you about whether it was working properly (and you had too keep telling yourself that it as alright for these packages to fail.

If you try and use a Visual Studio (including VS C#) project that ison a network drive, there is a very good chance you will be met with amessage warning you that the location is not trusted. After that, somethings will not work with the project, no matter how hard you try. There is a way to raise the permissions level in the .NET settings sothat network drives are trusted. After this Visual Studio will trustthe network location and allow you to work from a network drive.

I have an SD card and sone day I discovered that it was read only. I checked the lock on the side of the card and it was off (if it is on, then the card will be read only, no matter what you do with our OS). This problem also applies to thumb drives, etc (though probably not the lock thing) - any FAT formatted drives.
Using Ubuntu 8.04, though it would probably apply to all versions of Linux

This is a good tutorial on how to centre text vertically in OpenOffice.org writer.
http://openoffice.blogs.com/openoffice/2005/12/centering_text_.html
Was going to do a tutorial on it, but this is so good, it just needs to be linked to.

I discovered that the hue on my videos was out. On VLC, I was manually able to adjust the hue, but it only worked once, however the other media players were out.

I killed pulseaudio. Now I cannot get it back working. when I go into the manager, I get
Failed to connect: Connection refused
I am running Ubuntu Herdy Heron (Will probably work on both 64 and 32 bit)
Fix: Run
pulseaudio -D
in terminal, and it should me right or display an error message. If it displayer an error message, try restarting your whole computer and then as soon as you log-in, run the command. (Be sure not to play any music beforehand).
